The Recycling and Solid Waste Disposal Facility is conveniently located in Shelbyville near I-64 and Taylorsville Road.
We are open 7 am – 3 pm Tuesday through Saturday except holidays.

Recycling is free.
There is a small fee for non-recyclables. *
You can pay for non-recyclables with a credit/debit card or mobile payment app (watch video).
The County Card is an easy way to pay and necessary if you pay with cash. (watch video).
* Effective 1 May 2026, the price to dispose of non recyclables will be $1.00 for less than 20 pounds and 6 cents per pound for 20 pounds or more. See our Services page for more info. It’s easy, economical, and available to everyone. Tire disposal is for Shelby County residents only and tires must be less than 42 inches tall.
Please note that, due to economic reasons, beginning 1 January 2025 we will only be able to accept types 1 and 2 plastics (such as beverage, food, and detergent containers marked as type 1 or 2). [more info].
Please recycle all batteries (it’s free!). Do not put them in solid waste dumpsters because they cause fires.
