Tire Disposal

Shelby County residents only.  4 tires per week.

Lumber Disposal

Please dispose of lumber only in the solid waste area, not in the brush pile.

Recycling and Solid Waste Disposal

There is no charge for recycling.  We are accepting recyclable items at the Shelby County Recycling Center and the Seventh Street Shelbyville location, currently self service drop off only.

Recyclable Materials

Please separate items into one of the following categories and drop into the appropriate bin.

Household Trash

There’s a small fee to dispose of your non-recyclable materials.  When you enter the solid waste disposal area our automated scales weigh your vehicle.  After you put your trash in the dumpsters you are weighed again on the way out.  You can pay with credit card or debit card.  We also offer reusable County Cards which may be purchased with cash.  There is a fee of 3.5 cents per pound so, for example, 20 pounds of trash costs only 70 cents.
