Recycling and Solid Waste Disposal

Recycling is free.

The price to dispose of non-recyclables is $1.00 for less than 20 pounds and 6 cents per pound for 20 pounds or more.

Tire disposal is for Shelby County residents only and tires must be less than 42 inches tall.

Please Remember…

Only recycle items that do not contain liquids or food.  Watch our video for a few basic guidelines.

Please note that, due to economic reasons, we are only be able to accept types 1 and 2 plastics (such as beverage, food, and  detergent containers marked as type 1 or 2).  [more info].

Brush Disposal

Tires

  • Available to Shelby County residents only
  • Limit 4 tires per week
  • Tires must be less than 42 inches tall

  • Golf cart batteries
  • Cell phone batteries
  • Common batteries AA, C, D, etc.
  • No fee

Document Shredding

  • Currently available
  • No fee

Other Services

Household Trash

  • Small fee for non-recyclables
  • Automated scales weigh your vehicle before and after you dispose of trash
  • Non recyclables cost $1.00 for 19 pounds or less and 6 cents per pound for 20 pounds or more.  For example 20 pounds costs $1.20 and 30 pounds costs $1.80.
  • Pay with credit/debit card, mobile app, or county card
